Last week I attended the Pim & Pom Première at Tuschinski, Amsterdam.
It truly was insane to sit in a packed theater and watch the audience
laugh, and cry during the film we worked on for so long.

The film is now showing in theaters everywhere. Go see it!
Especially if you have some young children in your family.

Vorige week was het dan eindelijk tijd voor de grote Pim & Pom Première!
Het was heel bijzonder om in Tuschinski te zitten tussen een gigantische berg
kinderen die helemaal op gingen in de film.

Ondertussen draait de film nu  in het hele land, staan de kranten vol met goede
recensies en gaat dit kind helemaal stuk op de circus sequentie!

Streaming 2D Animation?!

While working on the Bigfoot music video I did some live streaming, so people could
watch the animation process in real time. Pretty boring to watch, but a great way
to analyse your own work afterwards.



Tijdens het werken aan de Bigfoot videoclip konden mensen live meekijken naar het
animatie proces. Het was zoals verwacht een saaie voorstelling voor de kijker, maar het
bleek een prima manier om eens terug te kijken naar mijn eigen werk.

Break

I've been very busy doing the animation on the W&W Music video "Bigfoot".
The production was crazy, but we managed to finish the video and I'm very happy
with the result. Right now all we have to do is wait for the online release,
so we can share it with everybody.

Right now I'm taking a little break to finally get some rest, pack my thing and move to a new house!

De videoclip waar ik de afgelopen weken aan geanimeerd heb is klaar!
Het was een zware klus, maar alles is gelukt en ik ben erg blij met het resultaat.
Nu is het alleen nog even wachten op de online release voordat hij gedeeld kan worden.

Nu heb ik een paar dagen vrij om te kunnen verhuizen naar een nieuwe plek!

Right after the Pim & Pom wrap party the next big Studio Plumeau project
was already in production. Together with our new friends at Soulvizion we are
making the new music video for W&W.

The whole video is still in the works but Armada Music already released this teaser trailer:



Na het afsluiten van de Pim & Pom film stond de volgende Studio Plumeau opdracht
alweer voor de deur. Samen met Soulvizion maken we de nieuwe video clip voor het
DJ duo W&W. Armada Music heeft alvast de teaser trailer online gezet.

Teaser Trailer "Pim & Pom"

Almost six months ago I got the chance to work on the animated feature "Pim & Pom". The animation for the entire movie is almost done, so my part of the production is coming to an end. When It's over I will write a nice story about the whole adventure.

Alweer een half jaar geleden kreeg ik de kans om mee te werken aan de geanimeerde bioscoopfilm "Pim & Pom". Het tekenwerk is bijna klaar, dus mijn werk zit er bijna op. Als alles klaar is zal ik meer vertellen over deze gigantische klus.

Creative Process Presentation

Talent Factory Hilversum invited us to give a presentation about our creative process at the headquaters of MediaMonks. We showed our stuff, told the Studio Plumeau origin story and I gave some insight into my 2D animation workflow.

De Talent Factory Hilversum nodigde ons uit om een presentatie te geven over ons creatieve proces bij MediaMonks. Persoonlijk heb ik het gehad over de manier waarop ik werk, en hoe ik 2D animatie gebruik binnen Studio Plumeau.

Last week we worked on a nice little short movie for photographer Bea Blauwendraat.
We only had a few days to create the short, But I'm very happy with the result.

afgelopen week hebben we gewerkt aan een korte film voor fotografe Bea Blauwendraat.
Ook al hadden we maar een paar dagen om de film in elkaar te draaien ben ik erg blij

met het resultaat. De korte film is binnenkort te zien op Studio Plumeau.

Annecy 2013

A few weeks ago we went to the animation festival in Annecy. It was the first time

we attended this awesome place as professionals, and we figured this meant business.

So instead of watching movies and shorts all day, we drew business cards, got ourselves

matching uniforms and tried to get into all the fancy parties we could find.

It worked! We made new friends, crashed into a lot of parties and went home with

a bag full of business cards.

New assignments

Right now I'm working on the 2D animated feature: "Pim & Pom"! It's a gigantic
undertaking and I'm thrilled to be a part of the team that is making this movie.

The Movie (like the animated series that already exists) is based on the illustrations of
Fiep Westendorp and the characters of Mies Bouhuys, and will hit the big screen
early 2014. I'm especially excited about all this because if my calculations are correct
this will be the first dutch 2D animated feature in 30 years!

Meanwhile at Studio Plumeau we're working on our new portfolio site, logo animation
and we got our fancy business debit cards (and of course they got my name wrong).

A new Studio!

Alright, Big news! Together with my roommates: Guido Puijk and Ben Vinkenburg I've
founded "Studio Plumeau" our very own animation studio.
I'm very exited about the idea of working with these guys on bigger more complex
projects, and can't wait to see what the three of us combined can accomplish.

Dames en heren, jongens en meisjes hou je vast! Een paar weken geleden ben ik samen
met Guido Puijk en Ben Vinkenburg een eigen studio gestart: "Studio Plumeau"!
Ik kan niet wachten om met zijn drieën aan de slag te gaan, en ben benieuwd wat
ons allemaal staat te wachten.

Views vinden en reacties regelen

Als je tegenwoordig klaar bent met een maken van een film is het tijd voor distributie.

Vroeger hield dat in dat je per post de film naar allerlei filmfestivals ging sturen.

In principe gaat het nog steeds zo, maar nu kunnen we ook gebruik maken van

internet om meer publiek te kunnen bereiken.

De truck is je film in korte tijd naar zoveel mogelijk mensen te verspreiden, deze 

mensen delen de film weer met andere mensen en zo kun je met een beetje geluk een

hele berg kijkers verzamelen.

Inmiddels heeft onze afstudeerfilm zijn piek in kijkers al wel gehad, het was interessant

om te zien hoe je werk zich echt razend snel kan verspreiden met hulp van wat sites

en een beetje sociale media.
